Composition in Photography is how a photographer arranges visual elements within the frame. First we will go over basic skills and how to use these towards our creative endeavors. The viewfinder will become our canvas and we will work on rule of thirds, leading lines, visual weight, balance and perspective. This meetup is suitable for advanced beginners, and anyone looking to refine how they build a photograph.

ARTISTS
Md Saidur Rahman (Rafi)
I am Md Saidur Rahman, known as Rafi, a Bangladeshi multimedia artist and architectural designer based in the United States. My practice merges art and architecture to explore identity, displacement, memory, and cultural belonging.

My journey began in childhood, but it was deeply shaped by my move from Bangladesh to New York. Experiencing both loss and opportunity, I found in art a language to process transition and redefine the meaning of home. My work reflects the emotional weight of migration, the silence many people carry within them, and the resilience that emerges from struggle.

Working across multiple mediums, I create layered compositions that fuse tradition with contemporary form. I refuse to confine myself to one discipline, instead building visual dialogues between structure and emotion, space and story. Architecture shapes my understanding of dimension and environment, while fine art allows me to express what cannot be spoken.

Culture stands at the center of my practice. I seek to preserve heritage while challenging viewers to reconnect with their roots and shared humanity. Through art and design, I aim to build not only spaces but deeper understanding.

Md Saidur Rahman (Rafi) is available for private bookings

Here, I tried to capture the beauty of 19th century Japanese ukiyo e woodblock prints. I primarily used Sumi Watercolor. These watercolors combine soot and pigment to create rich off-black shades.

This image was inspired and based on the artwork by Jo Haran's Drenched Chrysanthemum's. It is my second water colour painting, which I completed for my Auntie whose husband grew Chrysanthemum's and who sadly passed away following a stroke a few years ago. My hope for the painting is that it offers her a warm reminder of their happy times together. Please note that I do not have copyright for the original image upon which my painting was based on. I was invited to upload it by the Nottingham

This is watercolour A4 piece on paper . Inspiration was the storm I was able to see. I saw many colours on the surface and it was beautiful. I just want to paint it. The sail was my imagination .

In Mangonui on the North Island, the town's roads, bathed in sunlight, and their elegant curves traversing the blue sea, instantly captivated me. I spent an unforgettable weekend there.

Title or Location: roofs..........a northern landscape
Following an enforced 18 months away from my art I returned to my practice working in watercolour and ink. I work with liminal, architectural and imagined spaces and places within an urban landscape. Using layers my work is an exploration of form, colour and texture aiming to capture the essence of the urban landscape we live in, work in and travel through.
